With a minimum of Euro 500K investment required in real estate, everyone can have a permanent residence permit when renewed for 5 years and it gives the right to get a citizenship without having the obligation to live in Portugal. Althougth it is a relatively new program, there are over 3,000 Golden Visas issued by May 2016 and thousands of applications are underway.
